Oh, and back on the topic of this post, one that I found mentioned a similar hole in Alaska and (down in the comments) the very same hole that was the subject of Andy’s original post. But some of the other “holes” mentioned in that discussion don’t seem to be holes anymore. All very mysterious. Not for us to know, I guess.
